Independent Living Canada

Approached by Independent Living Canada (ILC), Venture were asked to transfer their current website to a CMS that could be edited with a PC as well as a Mac. Their previous site was (unknowingly) designed by a Canadian agency using Sparkle. 

The restriction meant any onsite updates would have to be completed on an iMac, Macbook, or other Apple device. Facilitating the change from PC's to Apple based products meant significant cost for the not-for-profit organisation.

Venture recreated the ILC website on our CMS, meaning the team members at Independent Living Canda could access and complete important updates.

​Identifying several key areas that meant poor website accessibility, Venture agreed to redesign the website on a limited budget due to the previous web build, our team completed the web project on time and even managed to squeeze in some added value. Extra widgets were implemented to help navigating the large website and general functionality was improved, including the website translation tool (English to French).

About ILC (Independent Living Canada)

Founded in 1986, Independent Living Canada (IL Canada) is the national umbrella organization, representing and coordinating a network of Independent Living Centres (IL Centres) at the national level.

The Board of Directors for IL Canada are comprised of a majority of people who themselves live with a disability and include Members at Large as well as a representative from each Province where an Independent Living Centre is located. 

IL Canada’s  aim has been about empowering the individual to self-identify positive changes. IL Centres are designed to facilitate greater independence through the active and meaningful involvement of persons living with any form of disability in all aspects of their lives.
